I would like to share a nice recent experience of Togliatti (Russia) Sahaj collective in spreading Sahaja Yoga at one of the popular annual city events.

I have to say that the organizers have not wanted us to participate in it for a long time. Probably they were afraid that we would turn to be a kind of a sect. As for us we did not hide ourselves under the mask of any other organization because by that moment we already had a many years experience and knew that if we would represent ourselves as a ‘Club of butterfly fans’ for example then we will attract butterfly fans only but not the seekers of truth. During long time we for instance advertised our public programs through the posters which invited people to the Concerts of Indian Classical Music and Dance. As a result only the people who liked music visited our programs. And when we started talking about Sahaja Yoga at the programs many people felt disappointed and we awkward.

After that we started advertising our public programs and other events through the posters inviting people to Sahaja Yoga programs, meditation and self-realization etc. We put down SAHAJA YOGA with big letters on the posters and since than we met only those on the programs who wanted to know exactly about Sahaja Yoga, self-realization and Shri Mataji. As a result Read the rest of this entry »

Char-à-banc is an open carriage people of the 19th century used to travel on in many countries. “Char-à-banc. The Wheel of the Time” – that was the name of the Festival of modern ethnographic music that took place in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia, on 19 June, in an outdoor museum. That museum is an outstanding place in its own way. In the middle of the last century beautiful samples of wooden Russian architecture were brought there from all over Nizhny Novogorod Region to be collected baulk by baulk.

Sahaja Yogis were representing Indian folklore at the Festival as well as traditional painting with henna – mehendi. We also gave a workshop on Indian classic dance.

Opinion about the performance of our bhajan-group “Turia” published in the Internet by some viewer: “It is beyond praise. Firstly, Indian music is beautiful. Secondly, they were very-very loud-voiced. Thirdly, the instruments were almost absolutely ethical. Except there was Read the rest of this entry »

Yaroslav city was preparing for its 1000th anniversary. Buildings, squares, streets, roads were being repaired, reconstructed, and decorated.

In the network of the preparation for the anniversary of the city, new initiatives, sugestions were appearing. One of them was the initiative of JSC Russian Railways to conduct an event under the name of “Volga Embankment is an Area for Creation” under the support of the city administration each Saturday from May 1 to July 31.

There were five pavilions along the Volga Embankment where groups from different cities demonstrated their works.

As for us, Sahaja Yogis, we were invited to take part in the action “Give up Alcohol and Cigarettes” on May 22. Moreover, Sahaja Yogis were allowed to arrange their posters and to give realization.

Kolomensky SY music-group “Sangeet Ananda” performed very successfully during an hour. The audience wished to meet with this group again.

Our activity was appreciated by the organizers of this event and we were invited for the participation in the Friendship Parade of Nations on June 12. Moreover they offered us much space for the whole day where we could present Indian culture, conduct a workshop on Sahaja Yoga, perform Indian music, paint the visitors’ hands in mehendi style and dress them in Indian national clothes.

Before this event, our collective offered a havan at the collective meeting, we asked Shri Agni Deva to take away all the problems and obstacles interfering with our Sahaja work. All the arrangements were made. We were ready!!!

June 12 came. In the morning the lowering sky and drizzly rain plunged us into some gloomy state referring the upcoming parade. But we were going and a phone call from the organizers took away our uncertainty.

By this time Sahaja Yogis from Kostroma, then from Moscow arrived. Joy was flowing. The family was gathering. It was Heaven!!!

The group being responsible for the decoration and preparation of our area went to prepare it; the rest of us began to change their clothes for the parade as we were to present India.

What strange events started happening!!! The weather Read the rest of this entry »
