I would like to share a nice recent experience of Togliatti (Russia) Sahaj collective in spreading Sahaja Yoga at one of the popular annual city events.

I have to say that the organizers have not wanted us to participate in it for a long time. Probably they were afraid that we would turn to be a kind of a sect. As for us we did not hide ourselves under the mask of any other organization because by that moment we already had a many years experience and knew that if we would represent ourselves as a ‘Club of butterfly fans’ for example then we will attract butterfly fans only but not the seekers of truth. During long time we for instance advertised our public programs through the posters which invited people to the Concerts of Indian Classical Music and Dance. As a result only the people who liked music visited our programs. And when we started talking about Sahaja Yoga at the programs many people felt disappointed and we awkward.

After that we started advertising our public programs and other events through the posters inviting people to Sahaja Yoga programs, meditation and self-realization etc. We put down SAHAJA YOGA with big letters on the posters and since than we met only those on the programs who wanted to know exactly about Sahaja Yoga, self-realization and Shri Mataji. As a result Read the rest of this entry »

As an epigraph to the day:

“We all dedicate our life to Shri Mataji. Music is one of the ways of spreading Sahaja Yoga”

Sanjay Talwar, 6 August 2010, Togliatti, Russia

August 6, 2010 – the day of the official opening of the International Sahaja Yoga Festival which was blessed by Shri Mataji Herself during the days of Sahasrara Puja and trough the letter of Sir C.P. sent to the Russian collective on May 14, 2010.

Already in the morning there gathered about 2100 Sahaja Yogis from Russia, Belgium, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, China for the collective meditation on the high bank of the river Volga. Collective footsoak in Volga followed.

The activities of the first part of the day were mostly devoted to children’s upbringing in Sahaja Yoga. Before breakfast, there was collective meditation, shoebeating and some physical training (the latter - to the accompaniment of a very refreshing song for children).

On July 16-18, there was conducted a huge Festival called “Elloun” in Altai Region (Russia). It is a traditional festival of fold games of Altai people conducted in picturesque places of Altai mountains near settlement Ongudai. Elloun is the most significant event in Altai Republic which is yearly visited by about 15000 people.

Sahaja Yogis from Novosibirsk, Biysk and Gorno-Alraisk set a little camp not far from the glade of the Festival. There gathered about 60 Yogis which created the atmosphere of a little Sahaj camp.

During two days Sahaja Yogis were giving selfrealization, performed bhajans and painted mehendi at our stall. Our dance and music collective also performed on the main stage of the festival.

Our tents and stall where we offered our “services” Read the rest of this entry »

On July 24, in the art-club “Stray Dog”, one local folk-group was celebrating its birthday organizing a concert. Among the other collectives, the music group of Yuva Shakties had been invited to take part in it, too.

We were given 30 minutes on the stage and a table for mehendi that was working during the whole program.

As the people who gathered were aiming at ethno music, we began with potpourri of popular melodies of different nations and an instrument composition based on the bhajan “Maste Calandar” – all this fit well into the evening format. Then two bhajans were performed and between them there was Self-realisation protocol .

The audience was listening to the music attentively. At least Read the rest of this entry »

On July 17, at 7 pm, in the exceptionally fairy-tale environment, a Sahaja Yoga concert on the territory of the sport and entertainment complex “Olympus” was conducted. At the top of Marhotsk mountain ridge, from the cableway a picturesque view on the City of Gelenjik and the Black Sea was uncovering for the viewers.

Sahaja Yogis from several Russian cities were taking part in the concert: Chelaybinsk, Ekateribnburg, Pyatigorsk, Krasnodar with the support of Gelenjik and Novorossiysk. The purity of the mountain air and the grand landscape carried the state of lightness to us when Read the rest of this entry »

Char-à-banc is an open carriage people of the 19th century used to travel on in many countries. “Char-à-banc. The Wheel of the Time” – that was the name of the Festival of modern ethnographic music that took place in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia, on 19 June, in an outdoor museum. That museum is an outstanding place in its own way. In the middle of the last century beautiful samples of wooden Russian architecture were brought there from all over Nizhny Novogorod Region to be collected baulk by baulk.

Sahaja Yogis were representing Indian folklore at the Festival as well as traditional painting with henna – mehendi. We also gave a workshop on Indian classic dance.

Opinion about the performance of our bhajan-group “Turia” published in the Internet by some viewer: “It is beyond praise. Firstly, Indian music is beautiful. Secondly, they were very-very loud-voiced. Thirdly, the instruments were almost absolutely ethical. Except there was Read the rest of this entry »

Yaroslav city was preparing for its 1000th anniversary. Buildings, squares, streets, roads were being repaired, reconstructed, and decorated.

In the network of the preparation for the anniversary of the city, new initiatives, sugestions were appearing. One of them was the initiative of JSC Russian Railways to conduct an event under the name of “Volga Embankment is an Area for Creation” under the support of the city administration each Saturday from May 1 to July 31.

There were five pavilions along the Volga Embankment where groups from different cities demonstrated their works.

As for us, Sahaja Yogis, we were invited to take part in the action “Give up Alcohol and Cigarettes” on May 22. Moreover, Sahaja Yogis were allowed to arrange their posters and to give realization.

Kolomensky SY music-group “Sangeet Ananda” performed very successfully during an hour. The audience wished to meet with this group again.

Our activity was appreciated by the organizers of this event and we were invited for the participation in the Friendship Parade of Nations on June 12. Moreover they offered us much space for the whole day where we could present Indian culture, conduct a workshop on Sahaja Yoga, perform Indian music, paint the visitors’ hands in mehendi style and dress them in Indian national clothes.

Before this event, our collective offered a havan at the collective meeting, we asked Shri Agni Deva to take away all the problems and obstacles interfering with our Sahaja work. All the arrangements were made. We were ready!!!

June 12 came. In the morning the lowering sky and drizzly rain plunged us into some gloomy state referring the upcoming parade. But we were going and a phone call from the organizers took away our uncertainty.

By this time Sahaja Yogis from Kostroma, then from Moscow arrived. Joy was flowing. The family was gathering. It was Heaven!!!

The group being responsible for the decoration and preparation of our area went to prepare it; the rest of us began to change their clothes for the parade as we were to present India.

What strange events started happening!!! The weather Read the rest of this entry »

Dear all,

Here are the news about my own experience in Togliatti Academy of Indian Music and Art (Russia). The students are accommodated in a rented house at the moment, but next year the new buildings will be ready to host yogis and yoginis of any age and from any country….

The director of the Institute, Vladimir Zakharov, took me for a visit of the new beautiful buildings, entirely made of a local wood, as Shri Mataji suggested. The lovely smell of this wood is all around. There will be a large garden for open-air meditations, shoebeatings, outdoor sports for the youngest students and for practicing singing and musical instruments.

My personal experience has been just great. My basic target was Read the rest of this entry »
