On February 2010, the Festival “We Are All Different. We Are All Equal” was held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. On the first two days, there should be held round work tables on the topic: “The Ideology of Social Animosity in Modern Society. The Youth Are in front of the Choice – between Xenophobia and Internationalism”. The 3rd day of the Festival was devoted to world languages and cultures: there were presentations of different languages of the world (about 30), communication with native speakers, lectures on linguistics and an international concert.
The Sahaja Yoga Collective of Nizhny Novgorod could not but participate in this event. Almost immediately, as soon as we learnt about the coming Festival, an idea occurred to us to perform bhajans at the opening of the Festival and to introduce the art of mehendi to the visitors. We also wanted to take part in the round work tables as there is a very clear understanding that now it is important to introduce Sahaja Yoga at different conferences telling people that the method opened by Shri Mataji is a unique solution to various social problems.
A week and a half before the round work tables we gathered to discuss the topic. The decision was made to prepare a booklet for the participants of the seminar. We had only one week but thanks to the vibrational support of Shri Mataji and collective efforts the booklet was created. One day before the round work table we sent the booklet to the main organizer of the event – for him to look through it. At the same time we learnt that the seminar was going to include just a couple of journalists’ speeches on the political topic “who benefits from social animosity in society”… Although we were not given an opportunity to present the booklet at the round work table (which was explained by the fact that there were not going to be other booklets and the organizers did not want to promote only us), we got a very important experience working at the booklet:
- when discussing the topics of the seminar and working at the booklet, the vibrations were very strong as if Paramchaitaniya was working out the problem though Sahaja Yogis on the vibrational level;
- collective meetings with the aim to discuss the problems of our society, as it turned out, unite Sahaja Yogis greatly;
- and the main thing is that we’ve realized that Sahaja Yogis can be organizers of similar conferences (on social, medical topics) – inviting famous people and speakers and openly telling people how Sahaja Yoga can help solve various social problems.
Here is the booklet which we’ve prepared (click the image to enlarge it):
the cover – made for 21×29 cm paper, folds in three parts

We can send you the layout of the booklet for printing: you can change contact info and other things there if you wish (send your requests to the e-mail address sy-project @ mail.ru– do not forget to delete the space in the e-mail address-prevention from spam).
On the third day of the Festival our bhajan-group “Turiya” was performing at the official opening of the Day of Languages and Cultures. And then, from 11 am till 6 pm our sisters were painting the visitors’ hands in mehendi style talking to each of them for a long time (and our bhajan group was continuing to perform sitting nearby). There turned out to be many seekers among the visitors of the Festival!
Jai Shri Mataji!
