(an experience of conducting the first Sahaja Yoga Public Program)

On December 11, 2011, there was conducted a Sahaja Yoga Public Program in one of the towns near Surgut, Russia. The reason why we would like to tell you about our experience is that it was the first experience of such a kind for us which made us really collective.

When now we are looking at our photos, we clearly understand that those were not we. How did we dare organize such an event? We can neither sing nor dance nor entertain the public. And we know for sure that we did nothing. We were literally raised, organized and sent to that town in three cars. Our neighbours – Sahaja Yogis from Langesep and Nizhnevartovsk – gave us Read the rest of this entry »

This Year, for the first time, the International Sahaja Yoga Festival in Russia lasted for 2 weeks (Dec. 24 – Jan 8)! We offered Christmas Puja and met the New Year in a large collective of Sahaja Yogis. (Actually, it was a Yuva Shakti Festival but all the Yogis were invited and there were brothers and sisters of almost every age starting from 1 yr. 7 mo :) ).

Children’s New Year Party in Sahaja Yoga Style

The Festival started on December 24, 2011, in the International Sahaja Yoga Center situated in Togliatti. In the morning there was conducted a children’s New Year party was conducted (such NY parties for kids are a tradition in Russia). Together with the kids, the characters (Father Frost, his granddaughter, Shri Ganesha and Shri Hanuman, a hare, a wolf and a fox) learnt that if you are not cowardly, greedy and angry, everything in great! There were lots of presents from the Father Frost at the end of the holiday.

While returning to Togliatti from the Public Program held in Penza (Russia), one of the brothers suddenly said, “We are also invited to Kazan”. So, in two weeks, on Saturday morning, 14 Sahaja Yogis are together again – we are going to Kazan, the capital of the Tatar Republic, Russia. We are going to do what gives so much joy – to carry people a message about what can make this world beautiful. We are going in a united team: with jokes, sandwiches and music.

Sahaja Yoga in Russia

A hospitable Kazan brother met us at the entrance to the city and starting from that moment we felt fully surrounded with the local Sahaja Yogis’ care. But the mini-tour to Kazan brought us much more than just a meeting of the Yogis of two cities. It was a meeting of Yogis of three cities! :) In an hour brothers and sisters from the City of Naberezhny Chelni arrived: to dance, play and drum :) And that evening the second floor of Kazan Sahaj ashram reminded a large warm living-room where dances, qawwalis, bhajans were being rehearsed.

October 28-30, 2011

The soul was waiting for a holiday. There was a desire to be in a large collective. To work.

So, to the appeal to help yuva-shaktis to spread Sahaja Yoga before the Festival “Diwali” organized in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, for spreading Sahaja Yoga, I decided to “become” a yuva – and I was the first one to arrive! In the ashram, the preparation went at full speed: the sisters were sewing bright lanterns and the brothers were busy with their lighting because the festival was the holiday of light and fire! I wanted to help but my trip had influenced me so I had to have a little rest first. Only an hour has passed and you are full of energy. In the ashram the energies are special. Here everything is made with worshiping of Mother. That day one more sister from Tver came and the next morning there arrives Sahaja Yogis from Togliatti, Ulyanovsk and Moscow. There was a wonderful breakfast and then we went to Kronstadt (a city in the region) to spread invitations to the public program. The town met us with heavy clouds and after Saint Petersburg it seemed quite empty of people. A cold wind tickled our ears and noses but the desire to invite as many people as possible was stronger.

The wind pounded in my head but when you return to the ashram full of yogis you immediately forget about your physical state: only laughter and jokes!

The ashram reminded a hive: Read the rest of this entry »
