Jai Shri Mataji!

Let us share with you the joy of spreading Sahaja Yoga which we got conducting the first Public Programs in the capital of Azerbaijan – Baku City. Those were the first Sahaja Yoga programs in this country. We were inspired by the January messages of Shri Mataji in which Mother called to us to go to the countries where there is no Sahaja Yoga yet and to hold Self-realization programs there.

On February 2010, the Festival “We Are All Different. We Are All Equal” was held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. On the first two days, there should be held round work tables on the topic: “The Ideology of Social Animosity in Modern Society. The Youth Are in front of the Choice – between Xenophobia and Internationalism”. The 3rd day of the Festival was devoted to world languages and cultures: there were presentations of different languages of the world (about 30), communication with native speakers, lectures on linguistics and an international concert.

The Sahaja Yoga Collective of Nizhny Novgorod could not but participate in this event. Almost immediately, as soon as we learnt about the coming Festival, an idea occurred to us to perform bhajans at the opening of the Festival and to introduce the art of mehendi to the visitors. We also wanted to take part in the round work tables as there is a very clear understanding that now it is important to introduce Sahaja Yoga at different conferences telling people that the method opened by Shri Mataji is a unique solution to various social problems.

A week and a half before the round work tables we gathered to discuss the topic. The decision was made to Read the rest of this entry »

On January 31, 2010, Sahaja Yogis of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, held a program in one of the children’s homes of the region for children of 5-10 yrs. It was one of the brightest and most vibrational programs we had ever conducted for children!

When we arrived at the children’s home, the volunteers of the “Children’s Project” (non-yogis supporting the orphans of our region) welcomed us very warmly (we had got acquainted with them on the Evening in the Indian Style “At Laxmi’s” which was held in December 2009). While the musicians were getting ready, our sisters started decorating the children’s hands in mehendi style. Before painting, we asked the kids to see which hand should be painted. “Close your eyes. Imagine that the very best and most beautiful is getting birth inside you and rising up the spine”. And almost immediately we heard the children’s exclamations, “Oh, I feel coolness, here, on this hand, and here!” While we were painting, we felt the kids’ problems. That is why we tried to turn our and their attention to the problem chakras – through talking about positive things: joy, beauty, love…

Since the very beginning the kids were interested in everything happening – since the moment we appeared in front of them in our costumes. After the sister leading the program said that she had been to India, the interest increased more, “Is India a beautiful country?” “As beautiful as ours!” – answered the sister. The hall was decorated with the pictures of India and Shri Mataji.

The construction of the complex of buildings of the International Sahaja Yoga Center in Togliatti, Russia, is in full blast. As we’ve informed you earlier, the complex of SY International Center will consist of three buildings (with the total area of more than 1500 sq. m.) and a large ?onference-hall for 400 seats. In the buildings, there will be an International Children’s Ashram (a kindergarten, a primary school and a weekend school), an International Academy of Indian Classic Music and Art and an International Health and Research Center blessed by Shri Mataji in summer 2009 (Guru Puja, 09).

By now, the first building (520 sq.m.) where Sahaja Yoga Health and Research Center will be located has been constructed. Glazing and decoration are on their way there now. We are planning to finish the work at this building by May, 2010. Up to 100 Sahaja Yogis will be able to stay there at one and the same time.

The construction of the 2nd building has also been started (510 sq. m.). The first floor of the building has been already raised. In the future, the 3rd building and the hall will be also built and it will give us an opportunity to Read the rest of this entry »

During the New Year Yuva Shakti Festival, Shri Mataji gave us a good evidence that the desire to spread Sahaja Yoga comes true immediately. In the rest-house where the Festival was taking place, there lived a group of little sportsmen – 1st year graders – and it occurred to Sahaja Yogis to give them Self-realization. On meeting the kids at dinner time, the Yogis suggested their coach to listen to a small concert and he agreed. A music band consisting of Yuvas from different parts of Russia was formed at once and in 20 minutes the musicians were already sitting on a mat in front of the children.

Keeping attention of 30 children who have a habit to cry as loudly as possible just of joy – it is not an easy task but our sisters-presenters coped with it in a beautiful way! The sportsmen applauded cheerfully after the bhajans, listened to the fairy-tale about the fight of the good and evil within a man and imagined they were yogis listening to the good within themselves. The quietest ones even Read the rest of this entry »

“I came to the Seminar only on Jan. 2 but even during a couple of days of the Seminar I was able to penetrate into the atmosphere of it. This time the program was richer than last years: we held Pubic programs (right in the camp where the Seminar was taking place and in Samara City), participated in the YS seminar, enjoyed a marvelous New Year’s Eve and collectively studied dances and a bhajan.

And cleanings and meditations due to which one reaches a good state were, of course, the basis of the Seminar.

Sahaja Yogis who had been to the Puja in Rome joined the Seminar in the middle of it. So, all of us had a chance to listen to the impressions of Christmas Puja offered in Italy.

The energy we got at the Seminar should be enough till the International Sahaja Yoga Summer Festival :)

Nikita M., Novosibirsk

After the arrival of Shri Mataji in Russia many things have changed in the minds of Sahaja Yogis. Our Holy Mother is bringing us closer to something that we should be ready for in the future and She is doing it in such a soft and tender manner that it seems that nothing really happens but suddenly you understand that you are not the one you were – you have grown up.

In comparison with the last year, the number of participants of the Seminar doubled. It was so pleasant to see new faces!

Jai Shri Mataji!

Dear brothers and sisters!

On March 21, 1923, Our Beloved Mother Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi was born and each year, with much joy, we offer our love at Her Lotus Feet of Shri Mataji on that day. But on the same day one more great person of our time gets warm wishes on the occasion of his birthday – the spouse of Shri Mataji Sir Chandrika Prasad Srivastava.

This year Sir C.P. will turn 90! His life is a great saga of nobleness, honesty and devotion to his native land and of a great service for which Shri Mataji has chosen him to be Her spouse for almost 63 years already. As Shri Mataji has told us in Her talks, at the beginning of Her Divine work for the transformation of this world, Sir C.P. always helped Her in Her work, supported Her traveling with money and treated lots of Sahaja Yogis filling the Goddess’ house at those times with much understanding. Sir C.P. has fully devoted all the recent years to serving Shri Mataji and fulfilling Her Divine wishes.

I remember one of the days, May 5, 2008, when together with several Sahaja Yogis we came to Shri Mataji to offer Her flowers. Suddenly Shri Mataji started talking to us. It was a long talk (more than 1,5 hours) in which Shri Mataji touched many important topics. She was giving Russian Sahaja Yogis the instructions on how to prepare Her visit to Russia, She told us many interesting stories and gave Her Divine lesson to us in Her loving and tender manner. I remembere several important things of that meeting with Shri Mataji and now I would like to share my recollections with you.

Shri Mataji told us about English Queen Victoria. Shri Mataji said that one of the peculiarities of her nature was her extraordinary love for her husband Prince Albert and his early death hurt the Queen very much. The death of her husband was such a stroke for Victoria which she was never able to recover from.

Dear brothers and sisters of the world Sahaja Yoga family,

As all of us know, Shri Mataji asked all of us about the following in Her letter from January 6, 2010:

I request all National Sahaja Yoga Committees and all National Sahaja Yoga Leaders and Coordinators to help neighbouring countries by sending to them a team of Sahaja Yogis and Sahaja Yoginis to convey, in a loving manner, the Sahaja Yoga message of equal and pure love for all and a life conforming to highest ethical values…”

At the beginning of 2010, the Russian Council set the program of activities for the advancement of Sahaja Yoga on the territory of Russia and it was also decided to continue the International Support Program(ISP) for spreading Sahaja Yoga in other countries (read more about the ISP here). In the frame of the year of India in Russia (2009), inspired by the experience of Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod collective of Sahaja Yogis decided to organize a Public Program not in the form of a 2-hours concert with giving Self-Realization (as we had done before) but in the form of a parlour in an Indian style presenting different kinds of Indian art. On Sunday, December 13, 2009, a 4-hours program entitled “At Laxmi’s. An evening in an Indian style” was conducted in a cozy café in the centre of our city. We are sharing our experience with you:

Preparation for the Program

As the program was to be held in a café and it was organized in the middle of December, almost on the eve of the New Year, we decided to create the atmosphere of Diwali and to tell our guests how the New Year in celebrated in India. What were the festive elements of the atmosphere? Lit candles were everywhere – on the tables, window-sills, steps of the ladder; there was the flavor of incenses in the air, and, of course, the program itself was festive. The evening was devoted to the Shri Laxmi – we wanted to tell people about the Goddess whose blessings are wellbeing, family, food, material wealth…

Before the program we prepared:

- a photo gallery depicting mehendi, people, nature, yoga, Diwali, Shri Mataji, Shri Laxmi ((the photos by Sahaja Yogis from different countries were used; in particular, we would like to express our gratitude to Axinia from Austria);

- several videos made with the use of the pictures mentioned above and Indian music. These videos were accompanying the presenter’s stories about mehendi, meditation, India, Diwali and Shri Laxmi.

At Laxmi's. A Public program in Russia

All these created the atmosphere, as our dear guests said, of “warmth, joy and tenderness”.

When we had been preparing for the program, there was some difficulty: we did not know who would come. Whether those would be people who would come just to eat or they would come to look at us? Would they stay for four hours or would they come and go? Surrendering to Shri Mataji, we shared the responsibilities of the preparation for the program among the members of our collective and started the detailed planning of the event.

What the Event Turned out to Be?

It was surprising to see that all who had come to the event came not accidentally. Some of the people already knew our Sahaja Yoga music ensemble and wanted to listen to Indian music again, some people came for the first time but all these people were the ones who were interested not only in India but also in self-knowledge. Some of the people turned out to be organizers of the city cultural life with who we can organize mutual projects for adults and children now.

Several “subject zones” were set in the café: a corner of giving Self-Realization, a corner of mehendi and the stage where music and dances were performed during four hours (ensemble “Turiya” was performing bhajans and qawwalis and Anya Triphonova who came to our city for the program from Kazan showed two classical Indian dances).

Mehendi

“At Laxmi’s” – a Public Program in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Held in the Style of an Indian Parlour.

We also conducted several music and dance contests. We told the audience about Indian music and culture, sang ourselves and together with the guests, performed Indian dances and taught the people the basics of this art, dressed the ones who wished into saris and gave Self-Realization. Some of our sisters (unexpectedly) prepared delicious sweets and at one of the points all the people present in the café got very tasty treatments! The whole evening Sahaja Yogis and seekers were communicating with each other. And the contests added festive mood: a “Singing Contest” (non-yogis were singing a couplet from the bhajan “Jai Ganesh” together with the SY ensemble; afterwards they stayed to sing together with the music band for some time :) ), a “Dancing Contest” (together with the seekers we danced “Ranu Ranu” almost till one drops :) ), a “Kuchipudi Master Class” from Anya Triphonova for Yogis and non-Yogis.
